Thorold High’s athletic award winners
Tyrese Gibson and Ashley Mayhew were named senior boys and senior girls athletes of the year at Thorold Secondary School’s recent athletic awards ceremony.
Earning junior athlete of the year awards were Bruno Nepomuceno and Jesse Davies.
Senior girls and boys academic athlete of the year award were presented to Anna Hammond and Stefan Dmytryshyn.
Highlights of the year included: senior girls basketball making it to zone final and the consolation final of the °µÍø½ûÇø tourney; senior boys volleyball made it to the zone finals; varsity football made it to Tier 1 semifinals before losing to Tier 1 West Niagara; varsity hockey, junior girls basketball, junior boys volleyball and junior and senior boys basketball reached the semifinals; varsity girls rowing earned bronze at Mother’s Day Regatta; Brayden Turner excelled at track and field; and, Ryan Custers won a Southern Ontario Secondary Schools Association wrestling title.
